Joli Jewelry

Joli Jewelry was started by Jody Lyons in 1984. Inspired as a child by her super-stylish grandmother, great aunt and her artist mother, came a love of the stylized periods of the 1920's-1960's. She found herself naturally drawn to authentic vintage and cultural components (Asian, African & European) when she began designing jewelry for herself while still an undergraduate in college.

Because of the limited availability of the unusual components, everything was and continues to be limited editions. Whenever possible real vintage parts are mixed with different cultural motifs and components, they evolve into fabulous new creations with a nod to the awesome vintage styles that we love so much.

The aim of Joli Jewelry is to share the love and interest in original, old materials and the importance of reusing: things like, vintage glass, original plastics like celluloid and Bakelite, old metal findings, old French enamels and mother of pearl pieces. Found items such as buttons, buckles, trimming, perfume bottle top crystals, purse openers, fans and furniture handles are among the items used. New semi-precious, glass and metal components, among others are incorporated as well.

Jody still designs everything in the line. The small production runs are then handmade by a group of wonderful women in her small studio in Park Slope, Brooklyn, New York.
